Retirement is that moment when earned income stops.  You cannot get to this point in your financial life without any preparation at all. A VERY BAD mistake.

So, when is the best time to prepare for retirement?  The answer to this question is the same as the answer to the question “When is the best time to plant a tree?”  The answer:  20+ years ago!!!

What has supported you your entire working life?  Income!!!  So, it makes sense to plan for passive income to replace that active income which will cease, voluntarily or otherwise.

Would you like to make an investment that pays you 10%, 15%, 20%?  Of course you would!!  Once again, to get a cash return of 10-20% on your retirement investments, you would have needed to plant that tree over twenty years ago.  Better yet, plant that tree today for a retirement twenty years from now!

This is what we do for our clients at Headwaters.  We buy rising streams of income that double every 5 – 10 years.  For our clients to retire comfortably, we encourage them to start planning sooner and be more aggressive in dedicating assets to their balance sheet to produce this passive income.  You rule your retirement.  Your actions will determine how comfortably (or not) you will retire.
